Process Works
Witness inspired moments in maturing art. Process Works is an on-going collaborative program between Sushi and Lower Left in which San Diego and Southern California dance and performance artists showcase their newest artistic endeavors. Designed as a creative learning experience for both artists and audience members, the structure varies to allow feedback discussions beyond the usual mode of "I like this" or "I didn't like that." Through discussions and purposeful facilitations the audience is given access to new ways to view and interpret the work. Although participation is unpaid, it is a valuable opportunity for artists to not only become visible to San Diego audiences but also to network with other artists and survey the work being done in the Southern California region. Interested artists should send a 1 page proposal and biography to: blountjane@hotmail.com or Sushi Performance and Visual Art, Attn: Process Works, 320 11th Ave., San Diego, CA 92101.

Tickets for each performance are $5. Each performance begins at 8pm, with a 7pm social beforehand.
Upcoming Performance is Saturday, November 2, 2002

Available Space - an evening of scintillating improvisation
December 5-7, 2002 8pm
$15 General/$12 Students & Seniors/$10 Sushi Members
Join Lower Left Performance Collective for an evening of spontaneous combustion that is not to be missed! Lower Left is known for presenting exciting improvisational evenings that cross the borders erected in the art world - evenings that marry distinct media together to create new areas of exploration and discovery. Last year's Available Space, Percussion y Palabra, brought together the poetry/prose of the Taco Shop Poets with the edgy sound of percussion group red fish blue fish. Sparks flew. This year, Lower Left is at it again. Always challenging itself with new possibilities and daring combinations, the collective dives into yet another exciting collaboration - this time with visual artists joining the mix. Witness the expansion and contraction of space as two-dimensionality flirts with the realities of a live stage - as permanence and ephemera share a dance.

Also presented in this evening is "Construction Sight", a work constructed for the audience in the moment by a band of talented performers who will have worked intensively together for two months. Better hold on to your hard hats, this piece will wow you with its improvisational sophistication and raw energy.
